A Secret Santa called Cuchumbo

The names of everyone swapping gifts go on slips of paper and get shaken inside a cup. In Honduras and El Salvador that cup is a cuchumbo, and it is what gives the game its name. Each person draws one slip, and only they know whose name is on it. Here the app does the shaking: it sends the invitations, keeps the hints and the reminders, and the draw stays sealed, including from the organizer.

How you use it

You name the exchange, pick a gift day and share one link. Players join in a tap: a name and a contact email, no password and no account. Each of them leaves hints and opens only their own assignment.

Organize a Secret Santa in a minute

No account to take part

Players join with one tap on the invitation link: they share only a name and contact email to receive their match. No password, no account.

The draw stays sealed

Not even the organizer can see the assignments. After the draw, each player can open only their own assignment.

Everyone reads it in their own language

Everyone picks the language they read in. The pages, the emails and the reminders all follow.

How it works in 3 steps

  1. Create the exchange

Give it a name, set gift day and add an optional budget. It takes under a minute.

  2. Invite your people

Share the sealed invitation link. Players join in one tap, leave gift hints and wait for the reveal.

  3. The Cuchumbo draws

Shake the cup when everyone's in. The draw is private and instant: each player can open only their own assignment.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cuchumbo free?
Yes, completely. Creating an exchange, inviting people and drawing names costs nothing.
Do participants need an account?
No. Players join through their personal invitation link: no sign-up and no password.
Can the organizer see who gets who?
Never. The draw is sealed. Not even the person who created the exchange can see the assignments: the surprise is preserved for everyone.
How many people can join?
There is no fixed limit. It works for a few friends or for a whole office, as long as you can keep track of everyone.
What languages is Cuchumbo available in?
Fourteen languages: English, Spanish, Japanese, Italian, French, German, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Portuguese, Hindi, Indonesian, Greek, and Thai. Each player can use the language they prefer.
When should we do the gift exchange draw?
Two to three weeks before the reveal is the sweet spot: players have time to gather hints and shop, but not so much that anyone forgets. For remote groups, add a few days for shipping.
Can I organize a gift exchange if we're in different cities?
Absolutely. Share the invitation link by message or email and have everyone mail their gift so it arrives before gift day. Cuchumbo works the same whether the group is in one room or on three continents.
What if someone can't make it to the gift exchange?
They still get a gift. On the reveal page each player can mark their delivery as completed. If someone can't attend in person, a later handoff works just as well. The surprise doesn't need a calendar to land.
What if I don't have my participants' email addresses?
You don't need to collect them. Each participant enters their own contact email when joining through the invitation link: the link works in any chat (WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS) and they handle that step themselves.
Can I edit the Cuchumbo after creating it?
Yes. From the organizer page, the Edit button lets you change the name, gift day, the budget or the theme at any time. Invitations already sent stay valid.
