The draw works the same for eight people or thirty; what goes wrong in big groups is communication. An unanswered email, a late sign-up or an unclear date all multiply by thirty.
It happens at offices and in big families with cousins, in-laws and partners. Clear deadlines and a single channel solve most of it.
What changes at thirty people
Close the list with a deadline
Set a deadline to sign up. When it passes, close the list and draw. If the list stays open, the draw keeps slipping and “can I still join?” messages arrive until December.
All the information in one place
Each participant should find who they drew, the budget and gift day in one place. In Cuchumbo that's their personal page. If the information is spread across three chats, you'll get the same question ten times.
Keep a spare gift
In a group of thirty, someone usually drops out. If it happens before gift day, shake the draw again. If it happens at the last minute and someone is left without a gift, keep a spare one within the budget.
One channel for gift day
If gift day isn't in person, pick one channel where everyone shares their gift: a chat set up for it or an email thread. If people only tell each other privately, the rest of the group misses it.
What breaks in big groups
A thirty-person chat is no place to organize: questions about the budget or addresses get buried. Keep the organizing in the app and use the chat for gift-day photos.
Draw names for thirty people in a minute
With Cuchumbo you invite the whole group with one link, the draw takes seconds, and the budget, date and hints sit on each participant's page.
