The last gift is opened. Everyone at the table has something except one person, who has been smiling for an hour at a pile of other people's wrapping.
Somewhere there is a giver who forgot, or whose parcel is still in a warehouse, or who is simply embarrassed. The room never finds out which, and the person without a gift never says a word.
It is an ending that is easy to avoid: one kind message, sent before the party, usually fixes it.
Four steps when a gift is missing
Give it a day or two past the date
Gifts get stuck in the post, in a bag, in a forgotten drawer. Before assuming anything, give it a couple of days past the date. Nobody looks good chasing a gift on the morning it was due.
Write to whoever drew you, with no accusation
From your page, leave a note for the person who drew you: “Looking forward to the gift, no rush, I just wanted to check the plan.” They read it without learning who you are and answer on the same page. A friendly question gets an answer; an accusation gets silence.
If nothing moves, tell the organizer privately
Use the message box on your page: it lands straight in the organizer's inbox. They can't see who drew whom, because the draw is sealed even from them, so they can't point at one person; what they can do is send a general reminder to everyone. That keeps every face intact.
If yours is the late one, say so first
If your gift is the one running behind, write to the person you drew (they read it without knowing who you are) or to the organizer before the date, not after.
A small gift on time, or a note promising a bigger one, is kinder than silence. When you hand it over, mark it as delivered so the organizer knows it arrived.
Don't hunt for the guilty one
Never ask the group “who hasn't given yet?”. Naming gaps in public turns a late gift into a public embarrassment. And if a gift simply never comes, a small one from the organizer or from you, outside the draw, costs little and keeps the evening intact.
Write the first note, kindly
From your page you can write to whoever drew you, and they answer there without ever being named, or write straight to the organizer's inbox. Neither goes through the group chat.
